In the beginning...

The beast was born in a small village in Botswana, one of a litter from a malnourished Tswana Brown bitch, who had the usual painted colouring of varying splodges of black, tan and white. He was bought by a friend for P10 and given to me. He was the only one of his litter to survive parvovirus.

When we returned to Canada, there was no question of the Beast staying in Botswana. So, we crated him up, and brought him to land of snow. Little did we know. Two days after arriving in Canada, a snowstorm hit that dumped over 3 feet of snow in under two days. The Beast was very confused.

Over two years later, he has adjusted to the climate well. Sometimes I look at him, and think - how many other African village dogs are as lucky as you?
